From there I'm going to take you to the White House and then all around the west side of the National Mall. I'm going to share some cool historical stories they don't teach you about in school, and even let you in on some fun Washington, DC secrets. I know, this all sounds too good to be true and you feel like pinching yourself to make sure you're not dreaming, but let me assure you, this is really happening. Let's get started! Popes Creek is the birthplace of our First President, George Washington. Here you will learn about his ancestors and see where he was born and spent the first three years of his life before his family moved to another plantation owned by his father called Little Hunting Creek (Today we know it as Mount Vernon) before finally relocating to Ferry Farm where he grew up. I’m Christian, your guide and this walking tour will explore a handful of the many historic sites associated with the town’s most famous resident, Revolutionary War General, First President of the United States, and farmer George Washington. Washington enjoyed a fruitful 50 year relationship with Alexandria, from the town’s founding in 1749 until his death in 1799. We’ll begin in the vicinity of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial and work our way down to Old Town’s Waterfront Park along the Potomac River.
